Core responsibilities:
Keep production systems (the live services users interact with) running reliably, fast, and secure
Debug and resolve outages, performance issues, and incidents — often on-call
Build tools and automation to improve deployment, monitoring, and alerting
Work closely with software engineers to make services more scalable and maintainable
Conduct post-incident reviews (postmortems) to prevent recurrence.
