Core responsibilities

Oversee daily lab operations, workflow and sample turnaround.
Supervise, hire, train, evaluate and schedule technical and support staff.
Develop, implement and maintain SOPs, safety procedures and quality systems (GLP/ISO/CLIA/other applicable).
Manage equipment lifecycle: procurement, qualification, preventive maintenance, calibration, repairs, and validation.
Maintain inventory and procurement for reagents, consumables and PPE; control costs and supplier relationships.
Ensure regulatory, environmental and biosafety compliance (OSHA, local regs, hazardous waste).
Lead quality assurance / QC activities: proficiency testing, method validation, controls, corrective actions.

Qualification & requirements

High school Diploma or equivalent, Leadership: people management, mentoring, conflict resolution.
Organization and project management: prioritization and scheduling.
Technical literacy: understanding of core lab methods used in the facility.
Quality mindset: attention to detail, documentation, root-cause analysis.
Communication: clear written and verbal reporting to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Vendor management and negotiation.
Problem-solving under time pressure.
