Core responsibilities:
Operate heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, graders, dump trucks, cranes) per manufacturer specs and site plans.
Read and follow work orders, blueprints, grade stakes, and surveyor marks to complete excavation, grading, trenching, and paving tasks.
Perform pre- and post-shift inspections; report defects; perform minor maintenance (fluid top-ups, greasing, filter checks).
Load/unload materials, place/compact fill, backfill trenches, and install/grade sub-base materials.
Follow all site safety protocols, traffic control, and communicate with forepersons, spotters, and other crew members.
Operate attachments (buckets, hammers, augers, rippers) and change attachments safely.
