Key Responsibilities
Reading plans: Interpret blueprints, lift plans, and load charts to determine the safest method for moving a load.
Rigging setup: Select and attach appropriate rigging gear — slings, chains, shackles, hooks, wire ropes, pulleys, and hoists.
Load calculation: Calculate weight, center of gravity, and load capacity to ensure equipment and rigging can safely handle the load.
Equipment operation: Signal and direct crane or hoist operators using hand signals or radio communication.
Inspection: Check rigging equipment, cables, and hardware for wear, damage, or defects before and after use.
