Key Responsibilities and Duties

Operate the driller’s console: control draw works (hoisting), rotary table/top drive, pumps, and other systems while monitoring gauges for weight on bit, torque, pressure, mud flow, and gas levels.
Supervise and direct the rig crew (floor hands/roughnecks, derrick hand, motor hand, etc.), conduct toolbox talks, train juniors, and enforce safety procedures.
Monitor drilling progress, adjust parameters (speed, pressure, weight), decide when to change bits, and manage tripping (running pipe in/out of the hole).
Oversee drilling fluid (mud) properties, well control (including blowout preventer use and responding to kicks), and handle complications or emergencies.
Assist with or supervise rig-up/rig-down, equipment inspection/maintenance, casing running, cementing preparation, and geophysical/formation testing support.
