Core Responsibilities
Operate mobile, tower, overhead, or crawler cranes to lift and move loads
Inspect crane and rigging equipment before and after each shift (cables, hooks, brakes, hydraulics)
Read load charts to determine safe lifting capacities based on boom angle, radius, and weight
Communicate with signal persons, riggers, and ground crew via hand signals or radio
Position loads precisely, often in tight or hazardous spaces
Perform routine maintenance and report mechanical issues
Follow strict safety protocols (OSHA or local equivalents) to prevent tip-overs, dropped loads, or collisions.
