Key responsibilities:
Operate mobile, tower, overhead, or crawler cranes to lift, move, and place loads according to work orders and site plans.
Read and interpret load charts, rigging instructions, lift plans, engineering drawings, and hand signals or radio commands.
Perform pre-operation inspections of crane, rigging gear, and attachments; identify and report defects; complete equipment logs.
Select and install proper rigging (slings, shackles, spreader bars, hooks) and ensure loads are balanced and secured.
Follow lift plans and load charts to calculate weight, radius, boom length, and lifting capacity; never exceed safe working limits.
