Typical job details:
Operates tower cranes, mobile cranes, overhead cranes, or gantry cranes at construction sites, warehouses, ports, factories, or shipyards.
Inspects equipment before use to check for damage, leaks, wear, and proper safety function.
Plans lifts by calculating load weight, crane capacity, swing radius, and safe positioning.
Communicates with signal persons, riggers, and ground crews using hand signals, radios, or standard crane communication protocols.
Uses controls to lift, lower, swing, and position loads accurately and safely.
Secures loads with slings, hooks, shackles, or other rigging equipment as needed.
