Main job details:
Diagnose mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, and substance use disorders
Assess patients through clinical interviews, medical history, and mental health evaluations
Prescribe and monitor medications like antidepressants, mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, and sleep medications
Provide psychotherapy or coordinate therapy with psychologists and counselors
Work with patients to create treatment plans and track progress over time
Manage crises, including suicidal ideation, severe agitation, or psychiatric emergencies
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals such as primary care doctors, social workers, nurses, and therapists.
