Read and follow site plans, grade stakes, and instructions from supervisors/foremen.
Select and install proper attachments (bucket, thumb, hydraulic breaker, auger, rake) and change them as needed.
Perform pre- and post-shift inspections; report defects and perform routine maintenance (lubrication, fluid checks, track/tire checks).
Set up and perform trenching and sloping according to safety and regulatory requirements; maintain awareness of underground utilities.
Coordinate with spotters, laborers, and traffic control to ensure safe movements and avoid hazards.
Key skills & attributes: Proficient machine handling: precision digging, grading, working around people/equipment.
Good spatial awareness and hand–eye coordination.
Ability to read basic site drawings, grade stakes, and elevation marks.
Strong safety focus and risk awareness (hazard recognition).
Good communication and teamwork; follow directions from foreman and coordinate with ground crew.
Problem-solving for equipment issues and field adjustments.
