Key responsibilities:
Inspect crane and rigging equipment before use; report defects and perform basic maintenance.
Set up crane on proper ground/supports, install outriggers and blocks as required.
Read and interpret load charts, lift plans, blueprints and site layouts to determine proper crane configuration.
Operate crane controls to hoist, lower and move loads with precision and control.
Communicate clearly with signalpersons and ground crew using standardized hand signals and radios.
Ensure loads are properly rigged and balanced by working with riggers.
Monitor weather, ground conditions and site hazards; stop operations when unsafe.
Complete required logs, inspection checklists and incident reports.
Required qualifications & skills
High school diploma or equivalent, Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform pre-shift inspections.
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a crew.
Ability to read load charts and basic construction drawings.
