Core responsibilities / duties:
Perform comprehensive pediatric assessments (vital signs, growth, developmental screening, pain).
Triage and prioritize care for pediatric patients; recognize and escalate clinical deterioration.
Administer medications and IV therapy safely using pediatric/weight-based dosing; monitor for adverse effects.
Start/maintain IVs, draw labs, collect specimens, perform wound care and other nursing procedures appropriate to pediatrics.
Provide age-appropriate patient/family education (medications, disease management, discharge instructions, immunizations).
Coordinate care with pediatricians, specialists, therapists, social workers, and case managers.
Document care accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) and complete patient handoffs.
Support immunization schedules, new born screenings, and well-child visits (in outpatient settings).
